Vitamin D3 plays a fundamental role in calcium assimilation and for this reason it is necessary to maintain a high level of this mineral in the blood.
The main goal of vitamin D3 is to improve the absorption of calcium and phosphorus thus protecting our bones and keeping them strong and healthy.
The body naturally produces Vitamin D3 by exposure to sunlight for at least 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring the required daily dose. In this way our body, through a reaction that occurs at the skin level, is able to synthesize it.
This vitamin is present in some foods such as fish, milk, and eggs. Even if you have a proper diet, it is impossible to reach the recommended daily amount that in fact goes from 5 mcg (200 International Units) up to 15/20 mcg (600 800 IU) depending on age.
Vitamin D deficiency is very common, especially in post-menopausal women, but it is also often found in young people and adults of both sexes due to a sedentary lifestyle.
As the experts of the Italian Society of Pediatrics have recently pointed out, even the children are not exempt. In some cases, therefore, on the advice of your pediatrician, you may need to take D3 in order to prevent lowering it too much.
Vitamin K1 regulates the presence of calcium in the body in at least two ways:
- Promotes the fixation of calcium in the bones through the activation of osteocalcin, a protein that allows calcium accumulation in bones and teeth.
- Reduces soft tissue calcification by activating the matrix GLA protein (MGP), thus preventing calcium from accumulating in the kidneys and blood vessels.
Both vitamins K and D are nutrients with pleiotropic functions in human tissues. The metabolic role of these vitamins, with a synergistic effect, is to regulate calcium homeostasis. The effects are produced both on the vascular walls, maintaining the physiological elasticity, both on the bone metabolism and on the immune system response.
Biolife D3 K1 has been specifically designed by combining two active ingredients (D3 and K1) that, in synergy, guarantee maximum efficacy and an optimal state of health.
